It’s Saturday afternoon and all’s at peace
Except for the chirping songs of mating birds
And occasional cars going down our street;
I’m quietly pondering on rhymes and words.

It seems we are living in uncertain times;
Experts say that grave financial troubles loom;
In some this would inspire melancholy rhyme,
A tendency to forecast more doom and gloom.

I see in this a chance to declare the truth,
An opportunity to point men to Christ,
To show man’s selfishness and greed is the root
Cause of the world’s current economic strife.

The world’s on a path that’s been prophesied---
A one-world dictatorship is on the way;
By every worldly power this will be denied,
But will happen exactly as Scriptures say.

Scripture is accurate in every detail,
Has never been wrong in anything foretold;
You do well to heed a Word that cannot fail:
Despite the schemes of men God is in control.
