It seems that each day something comes up that demands us to make a stand we didn't "hafta" or "wanna" take. For those of faith who are reading this, know it is time to check the full armor of God, get it out and put it on, because we are in a battle.
The battle, some would say, is in our mind, but that's not true, it's everywhere that we are or imagine ourselves to be. The battle rage daily for our minds, our faith, our beliefs, our hearts and to bring our families down if we do not willingly seek the Lord to show us the "right way to fight" for what is right. The Bible is clear that we (all of us, Christians and non-Christians alike) face many battles against things that are not flesh and blood. Our enemy, the devil (yes, he does exist) seeks to weaken us, make us powerless, and render our faith as useless as attack after attack rages around and among us. The devil, aka Satan, Lucifer, the Prince of the power of the air, etc. may leave you or I alone for a while but when we least want or expect it the attacks come.
Just look at some of the fights we have to deal with - Can you resist the temptation to buy, buy, buy? Can you turn away and not look with lust on that attractive person who turns you on? Can you avoid looking at "porno" online or in magazines? And, what about hurting that little child? Do you have to show your authority and power over someone weaker and innocent to prove yourself? Ever taken advantage of someone you know just because you could? What about shoplifting and stealing something from the stores? And what about dope and prescription drugs that are easily found and misused? It really doesn't hurt anyone, does it?
None of these things ever enters your mind as wrong do they? BE HONEST! Each and every one of us is tempted to do wrong things, to react wrongly, to say the wrong thing, to gossip, to mislead someone or to just do what we want to because we deserve it. But we don't deserve something just because it appeals to us! What we deserve when we are fighting the battles of life is to be beaten down within an inch of our lives, and then to "know" that we must let the Lord take on our burdens, lighten our load, show us how to have deeper faith, and how to stand strong in the Lord each moment we live. We need to say no to the things that tempt us do get and have things that are not rightly ours.
We don't have to have anything come between us and a deeper walk with God. We must deliberately seek a deeper commitment not to give in to wrong doings. What we must do, have to do, is stand up and fight along with others who fight wrong in the name of the Lord. Ask the Lord to make it clear to you how to deal with wrong thoughts and desires that come your way. Read the Bible and pray for daily instruction on how to stand strong in faith. Lastly we must willingly and daily humble ourselves and follow God's ways and not our own selfish desires. Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and He will lead you rightly.
