Poetry
The life of an addict
is beaten, battered and torn.
Our lives are all broken
and our bodies are all worn.
The ways of the world grab us
with vice-grips of sin.
The devils band of demons
are fighting a war they can't win.
They're on a seek and destroy mission
to steal lives and capture souls.
They're shape-shifters
that will lie, cheat and steal
just to reach their goals.
They will use our addictions
to control us, to guide us,
like puppets on strings.
Our mind wants to break free
but our flesh still craves these things.
We've tried to escape, probably numerous times.
Failing time and time again,
facing consequences of our crimes.
There's only one way
to overcome Satan and his scheme.
Ask Jesus to come and save you
and join the winning team.

So true, Robert. We all have our own battles with our own addictions (no matter how major or minor). In His strength, we can overcome all things.
Just one minor critique. This line: "The ways of the world grabs us." It should actually be: "The ways of the world grab us." Or, "The way of the world grabs us."
Either would be fine.Welcome to FaithWriters. With love, Deb (Challenge Coordinator)
