Everyday God reminds me how very much God cares for me. He reveals Himself to me constantly. I hear His voice through the perfect orchestration of the details of my life, a word aptly spoken, through ‘chance' encounters; not to mention through His word and prayer. God’s Spirit never ceases to draw my attention back to Himself. Why should God care for my attention, why should He bother with me? I can’t understand it, I could never explain why. But He does.

I seek a smile from my son. I want him to love me, to seek me out, to show me affection. I don’t need it. I was fine before I had it. Max can barely speak the English language, he throws a tantrum to express displeasure, he has limited social skills. In every way I am superior to him. Even so, I want his companionship. I miss him when we’re apart. He makes me laugh. He touches something deep inside of me. I would kill for him, I would die for him. Of course some times he makes me weary and tries my patience. Yet it doesn’t matter, my love for him doesn’t change.

Can this be how God feels about us? We barely speak His language, we throw tantrums, and I’ve seen the way Christians treat each other. In every way God’s our superior, nothing was missing in His life before we were created. It doesn’t matter though; it’s obvious that we mean everything to Him. He fights for us and He died for us.

What amazing lessons my son teaches me about God. How priceless to have a glimpse of the Father’s love for me.
