My user name is usually ‘Fluffy’. But when I tried to register on the last discussion forum, the system told me that it was already taken.

Too bad.

I had started using that name after I was a member of a different discussion forum. I generally float from one to another. This one was different. I complained to an on-line friend of mine that it was all fluff and no substance. But I couldn’t keep myself away!
Finally, one day, I wrote to her and said, “Just call me Fluffy, I keep going back!” The name stuck and I stayed for a long while. There is gold amidst all that fluff.

Alright, I’ll admit it. I enjoy the attention. There are many assumptions made about you just from your name. When you think of the name Fluffy what do you see in your mind? A longhaired lap-cat purring on your lap? A fur-ball of a dog spring jumping when you walk in the door? Or an air-headed blond that cannot keep a thought running in a straight line? You would be surprised at the different pre-conceived ideas people have come up with.

It is a fun thing to watch when the presumptions are peeled back and they see the truth.

Who am I, really?

I am a firefighter/paramedic. Firefighters are generally thought of as tough as nails and strong as steel. Stern. Focused. Male.
I must admit, it has taken a lot of work to maintain my femininity in the middle of all that testosterone. The name Fluffy helps a bit in that way.

Its kind of ironic, don’t you think?
