Song Lyrics
Exodus 15:23-25: Then they came to a place called Marah, but the water there was so bitter that they could not drink it. The people complained to Moses and asked, “What are we going to drink?” Moses prayed earnestly to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood, which he threw into the water; and the water became fit to drink.
By the waters of bitter Marah,
I stood in pain and alone.
Gazing upon the wilderness, its bitterness filled my soul.
Who will comfort me?
Who will save me, heal me from within?
Who could love a heart like mine, so filled with anger and sin?
By the waters of bitter Marah,
I knelt in anguish and grief,
needing the touch of a healing hand,
to bring my soul some relief.
Jesus came to me, gave His life for me,
healed my bitter tears.
He plunged into the waters of death
and Marah turned sweet and clear.
By the waters of sweet Marah,
I raised my hands to adore,
Yahweh Rophe, the God who heals
restored my soul by her shore.
Who will dance with me?
Who will sing with me, shout and praise the Lord?
Come, be healed of your bitterness,
at lovely Marah’s shore.
