Prayers
2 Chronicles 7:14 (New American Standard Bible)
14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Father God, I hear You calling my name, which by right of salvation and Christ's sacrifice, is indeed Your Name. There is none higher, and I am humbled and fall to my knees in prayer. When crisis looms, we often wonder - Are You handing down judgment? Have You looked away while in our solitude we suffer? In the words of Paul - may it never be! You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and You are a fulfiller of promises. You long for us to seek Your Face and to commune with You, but how often it is that You remain alone. Could it instead be that You are daring us to pray and lay our burdens and those of the multitude around us at the foot of the Cross which gives to us entrance into Your Presence; claiming the power and authority granted us by that very same Cross to change the way of crisis?
One Promise I always hold dear that You have not yet betrayed is that You will always be with me and will never forsake me. I live in freedom and peace because of that kept Promise and I hope and pray for every soul to know it as well. When crisis looms it is fear that consumes - oh Lord, God, there is so much fear. I take Your dare and join My Savior at the altar of prayer and may our prayers rise as fragrant incense to You full of faith, hope and love that You will in turn shower upon all those fearful hearts bringing peace amidst the roller-coaster of life.
A massive storm is coming ever so close to our land with utter destruction sure to follow its path - we have named it Hurricane Ike. There is no doubt that with one mighty nod You are able to turn it away. I for one am standing on my firm foundation and praying in authority that You will spare us this calamity. The strength and breadth of this storm is mighty but not mightier than You. You set our world in motion and anointed Nature to do her thing as a way to perpetuate life down here until You create for us a new Heaven and a new Earth. I am certain this storm is not Your judgment on us and I do not believe You are looking the other way in our suffering. Rather I believe You wait patiently for us to deny self and prostrate ourselves before You in prayers for the people - all people. May we learn through this, regardless of how it plays out, that our days are short and we must wholeheartedly seek You, trust in You, cling to You, rely on You to bring peace like a river upon our souls if we will but be Your willing servants to gather the harvest of Your people and ready them for Your ultimate return to usher us Home to the place You prepare for us.
Never let the burdens of those crying out in the desert dim within my heart; instead let their cries be my own so I can do nothing else but call on Your Name to come and save, for crisis is always looming for someone - somewhere, somehow, some way.
Amen - Come quickly Lord! XXXO
>>> A burden for all those in the populace of the Gulf Coast - including all of my family and friends - struck hard today and I just felt like there must be something I could do. That is when I believe God told me He was literally daring His People to pray with a fervor we have never known in the power and authority He Himself has bestowed upon us the moment we believed. Brothers and Sisters - are you up for the dare? Know without doubt, that through prayer freedom and peace can come - even amidst the toils and trials this life can bring. Blessings to all - I'll meet you on your knees! Jody

Sorry for being so long getting to comment on your entries. September is/has been a busy month...And now the Hurricane has come and gone. Prayers were in our hearts for all the people who have suffered. We can't even imagine, coming home to???Home, did I say? Coming to where home used to be...My heart aches. All I can do is pray and thank God for His multitude mercies...And why am I so blessed? I'm not. Not any more than any who put their trust in Him...I know God will be near those hundreds who have cried out to Him in these devastating times...What can I say? When our turn comes for disaster, may we be ready in our hearts...God bless you for your heart-felt prayer for those hurting souls...Helen
Praying along with you. This is powerful (as prayer always is).
Amen, God wants us to wake up from our slumber and get back on our knees. I know that God is calling us back to our first love, HIM. He is calling us to return to His arms and listen to His voice. God is calling us to intercede and pray in such a radical way. He has commanded us to pray without ceasing. This is not just an option but an assignment. God is asking us to stand in the gap for community, for our children and youth, for our nation and the issues we face globally. Ephesians 6:18 "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints?"... Thanks for this reminder and as always I am praying with you.
