Poetry
You believed before, sometime back
but today it’s been hard to have faith.
Life has thrown curves, the waves crashed hard
and hope has escaped through the gate.
Old friends have left you, new acquaintances gone.
You feel like a leper, unclean.
The light in your life has faded to black,
no hope can be felt or be seen.
It’s hard, really hard when everything hurts
and days start and end in despair.
And soon, pretty soon you begin to believe
there is no one left who will care.
And the worst of all is, you think God is dead
entombed in the cold hearts of men.
And you stop believing and trusting and hoping
that faith can ever rise again.
Until that time, when someone listens
and takes times to share in your pain.
And a spark is rekindled somewhere in your heart
and your soul finds some sun in the rain.
Life turns on little things, and hope slips through cracks,
a sliver of light fills the room.
And you start to reclaim that deep part of yourself
that refuses to stay in the tomb.
The mark of the nails, the wound in his side
standing with you, your pain to receive.
And what you had lost, in him has been found
as he smiles, “do not doubt, but believe”.
