I had a conversation with God in the half-sleep of early morning
just before the sun had risen in the East.
The words have crept from my memory, sliding away with the remembrance
of what time it was
But the feeling that impregnated my soul afterward
has been captured and will thrive in my memory forever

The promises made, unspoken yet strong,
retrieved a joy from my life that I have not felt in years
Their silent existence only brought more truth to their strength,
more strength to their light
The hopefulness, bright and dancing as if it were never dead
crossed over into the reality of my own life
It drowned all the fears I had harvested in my faithlessness along the way

I suddenly became aware of my unworthiness of such a visit
as the sun crept above the horizon,
shining brightly on my small existence
illuminating my sins yet feeding my hunger to be set free from them

My God had answered a prayer I had prayed many times long ago.
