Teach me to be like thee…

Forgive me Lord, I run, I hide;
I often live in fear.
But you tell me, you show me,
that you’re always near.

I try to control my own life;
do my own thing,
but agony and strife
are all I bring.

I get distracted
by worldly pleasures,
temporary and ungodly things
that cause me to neglect my eternal treasure.

But you rescue and guide me.
You help me when I’m lead astray.
And when I relinquish control of my life,
you always show me the way.

Oh, Lord, I know
you’ll never forsake me.
Please teach me, Father,
to be like thee.
