The flowers are gone, their perfume has vanished,
Weeds are abundant where roses once grew;
Winter has sounded; the green leaves are banished,
Cold frost in the morning replaces the dew.

When it was summer, their foliage flourished,
Flowers in their splendour displaying their blooms;
These are now memories, lovingly cherished,
Fond recollections dispelling the gloom.

Just like the seasons, life has its stages,
Its blooming in springtime, its summer and fall;
Time fleeting quickly, turning life's pages;
The advent of winter we cannot forestall.

Are we, like the flowers, departing forever?
Is there nothing more in life to be found?
Do all our achievements, does every endeavour
All come to nothing but dust on the ground?

Existence has purpose, our lives have design;
God, our Creator, made everything good;
Though decay overcomes with the passage of time,
It's to make us repent, if only we would.

Christ is the answer to all of life's ills;
God in His wisdom has purposed it so;
Redemption through Jesus is His perfect will;
Then new life from God will blossom and grow.
