Reading from the Acts of the Apostles in chapter 12v1-19 we read about the execution of James at the hands of Herod, and it pleased him to seize Peter also. The devil had realized that it was pleasing to persecute the Early Church and so one of the 12, James, was executed. This act was pleasing to the Jews and resultantly Peter was seized. Reader, take note of the power denoted in the word “seized.” It means “to take hold of,” “to commandeer,” “to take advantage of.”

Peter was arrested and put in prison. Again take note of the chain of events that took place: seizure by force, arresting by force then incarceration. But, it did not end there. Peter was assigned four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, a total of 16 men. They were positioned next to him, at the entrance- first and second guards, and then the Iron Gate leading to the city.

However, earnest prayer was being said by the Church- this is the key that unleashed the chain breaking anointing. All the while, the Church was earnestly praying to God for him. Peter was about to die at the hands of Herod but the Church was in deep earnest prayer. So, to release the chain-breaking anointing you need fervent prayers- prevailing prayers. You also need a situation to pray for as well as a God to pray to.

The night before the trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers and bound with two chains, while sentries stood guard at the entrance. You see, the night before the trial/death sentence, you will be twice guarded, twice bound, extremely guarded by the forces of evil. But take note that Peter was asleep, so will you. It would be natural to expect that you will be sleepless or prayerful but you will be asleep between 2 types of enemies- soldiers and chains of bondage. Peter was bound with two chains. You too will be bound and then guarded.

But the Lord appeared suddenly and lit up the dark cell. His light will focus on your dark cell (problem) and He will wake you up. And the chains will fall off your wrists. And He will clothe you and lead you through your other enemy- the guards. At the end, all your enemies but one will be defeated.

The last enemy to go will be the Iron Gate leading to the city, but it will swing open by itself because the anointing will break the chains locking it. He will lead you to your safety and will then leave you to find your way home. Meanwhile the enemy that is left standing will die in your place all because of the chain-breaking anointing. And as we read the end of the story we find out that the prayer meeting continued a cue that we too should not relax but continue in prayer.
