Paint Me A Picture


Paint me a picture
Of mountain cool breezes swaying towering golden yellow aspen trees
Whose quaking leaves silence the sound of the whispering pines
While wild flowers adorn the highland meadow grass rejoice in the evening rain

Paint me a picture
Of morning sun gently caressing the morning glories’ blue petals
Welcoming the eastern sky alive with pastel shades unfurling
With ribbons of pinks, lavenders, and blues fading into the midday haze

Paint me a picture
Of pink and white apple blossoms adorning uplifted arms in springs’ fragrant air
As butterflies dance in red clover fields and quiet brooks quench
Thirsty fawns pausing to hear the rustling leaves in the meadow behind

Paint me a picture
Of morning dew softly kissing the delicate roses of cool colors warmed
By the soft glow of the sun their musky perfume wafting to frantic bees
Who suckle sweet nectar to the haunting call of loons in the sleeping marsh

Paint me a picture
Of summers cerulean skies with powder white clouds drifting by oceans of misty
Blue flax lapping the edges of yellow mustard fields swaying in rhythm
To the prairie winds and songs of the bobolink, meadowlark, oriole and wren

Paint me a picture
Of autumn trees and multi-color leaves of oranges, warm browns, bronzes, yellows
And reds ablaze in the treetops pouring their palette of color where
Crisp air heralds their rustling fall as scurrying squirrels warn of colder days

Paint me a picture
Of moonlit snow on cold clear nights where barren trees become a wonderland of
Hoarfrost crystals shimmering as new clothes in the icy air while they
Stand in winter’s splendor waiting for the sundogs to play in the frozen sky

Paint me a picture
Of the Master Artist’s perfect love, where He shed His blood, crucified, the
Lingering shadow of a now empty cross when the earth grew dark and the cry,
It is finished, echoes for eternity in the vacant tomb, risen He lives forever more
