Prayers
ON THE WINGS OF PRAYER
PRAYER has been misconstrued to be a ritual whereby you talk to a God who has ears and can’t hear. When the word prayer is mentioned most people are turned off, that is the time they want to use the loo or find any excuse to leave the place, they see it as too much labour and too much load to carry but rather prayer should be something that excites you and you are looking forward to do.
PRAYER in simple terms is talking with God about your needs, discussing with God about your plans, asking from God His opinions on your ideas, gisting with God about your day. Just as you relate with your friend is the same way you relate with God in prayer, you being yourself, expressing your mind and not faking it.
PRAYER should not be restricted to early in the morning and late at night, it should not be restricted to a place and position. Jesus taught His disciples to pray using “Our Father”, that means the person you pray with should not be talked with as though he was a stranger but a friend, you don’t need permission to call your friend, it can be on the bus, on the tube, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the car, it could be anytime and any place.
I remember an event in my life when I couldn’t just wait to gist with Big Daddy (at my favourite spot, up in the pent house) what happened at school, we often chat all evening, it looks and sounds funny but He surely talks back and at times He shares a joke and we laugh, on such occasion, my mum sneaked on me and asked who I was laughing with. Most of the time, He told me things before they happen.
PRAYER is a two way talking like a telephone conversation. At times He beckons me to come to our gisting place whilst I am talking with friends because He wants to tell me things. The reason why we separate when we pray is to be away from noises so as to hear Him speak clearly but most of the time, people don’t wait to hear what He has to say, when they finish praying they walk out of His presence. On this occasion, as I got to my favourite spot, He was already waiting, I felt His presence and as I began to worship His Majesty, not up to five minutes, He showed me a vision.
PRAYER should from now henceforth be something you look forward to, when the word prayer is mentioned, think about gisting with your friend.
