Each morning I will look to you in heaven and lay my requests before you, praying earnestly” (Psalms 5:1) The Living Bible
What a difference looking up makes!
Sometimes we are so cast down in our spirits we don’t think there’s anything to look up for. Jesus reminded us to look up when the Son of man comes in a cloud with power and great glory (He was speaking of his second coming to the earth). The last days before His return would be hard and He is the redemption that would lift up their heads (Luke 21:28)
Many times Jesus would lift up his eyes unto the heavens before he prayed or performed a miracle. I think Jesus was looking from this natural world into the eyes of heaven – not because God was far away but because He was always close. God is just as close to us.
When we look up and cast our eyes on something else, we take the attention off of ourselves. By looking up we capture God’s presence through The Holy Spirit to bring help to us that will also benefit others.
PRAYER
Father, help us learn to eliminate a downcast spirit by looking up and seeing You close and realizing where our help comes from. Amen.
