"If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth"(Proverbs 30:32)
If someone is boasting about what they are, what they have, or what they do, you can know that person is a fool. The proud boast, not even realizing they are fools. God's advice is to "shut up". Put your hand over your mouth, because your speech is doing harm to you. Notice how many proverbs deal with your speech? What you say matters--to an extent you form the world you inhabit by the words of your mouth.
