God is in the business of visiting His people. In Genesis God created the heavens ad the earth, then He put in place all that needed to be put in place. Then He made man in His image- both male and female. God looked around and saw that man was lonely. He then decided to visit Adam, removed a rib from his side and made Eve. God couldn’t stand man being alone.

WHEN GOD VISITS YOU ARE NEVER THE SAME AGAIN. Adam was never the same again- he was never lonely and he had a missing rib forever. From time to time God would visit the couple for fellowship. One day as He paid a visit, man ran away and hid. He had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

That day when God visited Adam and eve He left an eternal mark on them- they wee judged and fired from the Garden of Eden. But He gave them clothes to cover their nakedness- a sacrifice He made of blood. This visit brought with it the shedding of blood.

From then on God stopped visiting. Cain and Abel grew up without visitation. But on the day that Cain killed Abel there was a special visit where God asked, “Where is your brother?” the conversation left Cain with a permanent mark on his forehead. Wherever he would go men would know that God had visited him.

God stopped visiting that generation for a long time till He noticed and admired a man called Enoch. He saw something different about him and visited, deciding to take Enoch away with Him. From there on God only came back to visit Noah to give him a blueprint for survival.

God later visited the generation of Terah where He picked out Abraham and gave him a seven fold promise that still has an effect on our lives today. We are heirs to those promises through Christ. God later visited Isaac, Jacob and Joseph leaving permanent marks on their lives- prosperity, a name change, reconciliation and promotion. God truly blessed all the men He visited.

For 432 years God didn’t come to visit the Israelites in Egypt till they cried out to Him as a result of the bitter distress they were in. god then visited Moses on the backside of the desert, eternally changed his life and focus by sending him back to Egypt for the sake of delivering Israel. During the next forty years God was a more frequent visitor in the wilderness. He also paid a visit to Joshua, Gideon, selected kings and prophets giving them a taste of His glory. Eventually He made a sustained visit through Jesus for 33 ½ years.

Eventually He got tired of visiting and decided to stay forever. One day in the book of Acts chapter 2 He made a fulfillment of the prophetic declaration of Joel 2:28 by coming down in His fullness on the day of Pentecost. God poured out His fullness and visited for a lifetime. The Holy Spirit has made an internal and permanent residence among man. God’s visitation has left us totally and eternally different. We’ve been visited and we must be different.
