If you were to ask Joel Osteen are Mormons true Christians, his response would be, "In my mind they are".

In an Interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, this was Mr. Osteen's exact quote.

When asked further about his opinion on Joseph Smith and other issues regarding Mormon theology, he stated, "I really haven't studied them or thought about them".

My question would be to him is, "Why not?"

Mormonism is not some little winky dink, johnny come lately religion with only a few members. Mormonism is a religion claiming perhaps millions around the world. It is a religion that has misled many of God's elect to bond with them for the purpose of community, or in some cases, the receiving and harboring of bad teaching.

Mr. Osteen's dialogue with Mr. Wallace favors being asked a question in grade school. When a child is asked a question in grade school, and then gets the question wrong, he will be faulted more if his answer to why he doesn't know the answer is because he didn't take the time to study.

In regards to Mormonism, it does not take some deep theological research to be able to make a personal assessment that it does not fall in line with the Word of God.

Mr. Osteen is either truly out of touch with the world and various religious communities around him, or he is a liar and does not want to offend. Either way, his followers should be ashamed and embarrassed of his responses in regards to this particular issue.
