Encouragement
Jesus and his disciples get to the shore, and board a boat with His admonition “lets go to the other side”. So they take off across the lake. The wind is calm at first, but as they near the middle, a very threatening storm brews. Jesus is calm and secure- and asleep in the back of the boat. What was He to sweat? This trip was in His hands and it was time for a little shuteye. Meanwhile, the disciples are having their wits tested and their seaman’s skills put nearly to naught. Finally, they see him still asleep in the back and wake him up with the question “Master do you not care that we are drowning?” Jesus rapped their knuckles for their lack of faith, and then commanded the sea and wind to calm down.
Now, just before they set out, didn’t He say, “let us go to the other side”? So, of course this destination being His idea, He knew they were gonna make it, no matter what.
The paths in our lives are fraught with threatening storms, and they look deadly sometimes. But Jesus was still with them in the same boat- and He is still with us in ours.
Tell me what you think, I’m just thinkin out loud.
