Children and Rain

Today the rain is coming down
Rain is pooling on the ground
While grass and trees enjoy a drink
Children inside think this now stinks

For when it rains outside you see
That’s where children want to be
Running, playing, and getting wet
Splashing in puddles is better yet

Mom and Dad must have forgot
What it’s like in rain to trot
Mom won’t let us go out to play
It does not matter what we say

Now the difference I’d like to know
When I bathe inside they glow
But when the rain outside comes down
If we sneak out they only frown

Now to me it’s all the same
Getting wet now that’s a game
I still get wet from head to toe
Please outside now let me go

Then mom said this very clear
It’s not the water I mind my dear
In a puddle I know you’ll splash
Or maybe fall now on wet grass

Now taking care of you my dear
Is my job I’ll make that clear
No doctor bills now will I pay
Cause you’re not going out to play
