"There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off." (Proverbs 23:18)


The Lord knows that "hope" is nearly as essential to mankind as oxygen. There are numerous stories of people facing great adversities, of losing all of their possessions, of suffering physical injury, yet they survived when others didn't. The difference, they often testify, is that they never lost hope. Over and over "hope" is a keeping factor. If you read of the great suffering of the Jews in the time of Jeremiah you learn that they lost all of their possessions, and were carried off from their homes into a foreign land, Babylon. In the desperation of their captivity the Lord sent them a message of comfort. That message was that He had a promise and plan for them, a plan to give them HOPE. We need to hold on to the promises of the Lord, for those promises will sustain us and give us hope in times of trial. As we have faith in the Lord and His promises, we should have abundant hope. This is the hope that Peter said we should be able to share with those who ask. My hope is in the LORD.
