So many petitions, too little time
Seeking the heart of Your will divine

The pages of life turn and turn
Engraving the mind, memories burn

Of loss, of love, of twisted fate
Sitting, waiting for waters to abate

Praying only for Your wisdom to see
The path You reveal on bended knee

Only to find the way that is clear
Is not one I wish to walk to from here

Lord, let this cup pass from me
Please take it, this is my plea

Yet, it is on the table I do see
This cup of mourning is now for me

For each joy comes with sorrow
Heavy clouds rise on the morrow

Soldiering on, I will toil and make haste
Not wishing the rest be laid waste

Praying for a rainbow, a dove of peace
To rest in glory, what sweet release
