Peace Reigns

In the stillness peace fills my soul.
No words explain it, this renewal of calm.
Awareness of hope; assurance of victory.
I have been replenished...life renewed.

I protect it, an infant secure in my arms.
Fearing its loss, reveling in its presence.
What foolishness, trying to hold the peace.
Deep within I understand...it is holding me.

The stillness has ended, reality returns.
I must leave the solitude of the peace.
The world rushes in, demanding my attention.
Yet I am strengthened...calm presence reigns.

Frustration stalks with a shadow of control.
Deadlines loom, selfish demands on my time.
Chaos abounds, unchanged scenes of yesterday.
Yet something has changed...peace remains.

Understanding dawns slowly, the answer clear.
No fear can invade the presence I have found.
The peace within, untouched by this world.
My heart cries acceptance...Holy Spirit stay.
