Poetry

---

The sweat poured down my crimson face
As I was running life’s long race

Never to turn my face around
With every step my heart does pound

The salt I feel upon my cheek
Is mixed with pain that made my weak

The Sun my friend when life grew cold
Refines me like the purest gold

Pain drives me on never to cease
Each struggle brings me close to peace

The road ahead seems far too rough
But never will I have enough

Do I keep running to my death
And find my peace with my last breath?

Like rivers run their race to sea
I run to live eternally

The air is thick with hateful cries
But I shall not divert my eyes

The race I run is towards the light
Of His eternal grace and might

When victory I then obtain
I’ll see the prize that’s worth the pain

And when I sleep never to wake
I know that someone’s heart may ache

But never stop to cry for me
Just live your life eternally
