What Little You Do Really Does Matter!

Have you ever felt that what you do counts for little or nothing in a world filled with human suffering, hatred, problems and for some, excruciating hardship? Perhaps this tale about Lucinda Salazar can perhaps influence your thinking.
In 2004, Lucinda, a 9 year old, Bowlegs, Oklahoma schoolgirl read a story about a 9 year girl who lived in Mosul, Iraq. Lucinda learned that the little Iraqi girl had lost her leg when a roadside bomb exploded blowing off one of her legs. Wanting to help, Lucinda went to her bedroom, took all of the money she had been saving for more than a year for a bicycle and sent it off to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. to buy the little girl an artificial leg.
In a letter she wrote to the military, she stated: “I don’t know if this is enough money for the little girl but maybe she’ll be happy to be able to walk again with a new leg.
When the letter and money arrived at the Pentagon, a number of military personnel were taken by the young Oklahoman’s gesture. In a very short time, enough money was raised by the military. A special medical team was sent to the Mosul area to locate the little Iraqi girl. She was found fitted for and given her new leg amidst much happiness and thanks by the little girl, her family and local community.
What young Lucinda Salazar knew—and what all people of God need to constantly remind themselves of—is that even the smallest act of good will can be a great and might force!!! Even the small change from a child’s savings bank by itself can, in fact did say “I care” and “You mean a great deal to me” to someone hurting and suffering in a distant, far away land. That is a mighty force, indeed! It should also say that there are no “little people”. Just little minded people possibly not willing to hear the call of God and to sacrifice their time, treasure, talent and sacred honor for the Kingdom of God!
