Devotionals
Hello, and welcome to this weeks verse of the week! I am So glad to be back and feel just fine! Still a little hoarse, though, but that should change soon. God has done great things in my life by healing me, much more quickly than I thought! He is GREAT. I did not always trust Him during this time, because like many of us, we look at the problem and not the solution, but in His infinite, and I DO mean infinite patience and perfect timing, He has shown me that He is in control, and will indeed take care of us. I think this weeks verse is an illustration of that:
"My flesh and heart may fail, but the Lord is my strength and the portion of my heart forever."
Psalm 73:26
I like the humilty of the people who write the psalms. They declare the goodness of the Lord but confess that without Him, they are dopes, lol. Everyone reading this has failed at something, at some point in time. And if it weren't for God and His mercies, we would still be failures. But Because we have a wonderful Father in Heaven, who picks us up when we fail and fall, we are victorious!
We don't have to feel bad when our heart and flesh fail. Actually, its to be expected, especially when you are young, but even when you are older, we make mistakes. And actually God knows we are going to fail, thats why He plans ahead of time how He is going to rescue us, and of course He had His son in mind to rescue ALL of us.
Sometimes, going into a situation, I get so excited, because I just KNOW that I am going to make God proud by acting obedient, and doing His will. He knows better though, just like with Peter. See, Peter was "sure" that HE would never betray Jesus(Matthew 26:33). But Jesus knew differently. See Peter though, "well, sure Judah betrayed Jesus, but HE never liked Him, I do, I'm His BEST friend!" And He was His best friend, he was the one that was closest to Jesus, but like all men, his flesh failed him, and he denied Jesus three times. (Matt 26:69-75).
Peter felt horrible for what He did, but God forgave him. He got scared, and denied his friendship with Jesus, because he gave into the pressures of the world, instead of his promise to Jesus.
..."But God is my strength of my heart and my portion forevermore"......The good news is that He strengthens our heart, and helps us to do better next time. And He always forgives us! Gods grace and His power in our lives is what keeps us loyal to him, he works on our heart, and makes us into the people he wants us to become. Along the way, we fall and disappoint Him, but He forgives is and is SO pleased when we come back, to start over again. Its not easy to follow God and His ways, its a straight and narrow path. But His mercy and grace renew us each day as we press on to know Him better and towards the prize that is eternity with Him and His son, Jesus!!
DEAR LORD-THANK YOU THAT YOU ARE OUR STRENGTH AND ITS NOT OUR STRENGTH THAT SEES US THROUGH, BUT YOURS. BECAUSE YOUR STRENGTH DOES NOT FAIL. HELP US TO TURN TO YOU FOR STRENGTH, WISDOM, AND FOR OUR PORTION, WHICH KEEPS US GOING, EACH DAY. IN JESUS NAME
