Women
MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL
It's 5:15 AM as the alarm yells out it's usual "get your hiney out of bed woman!! Time's a'wastin'!" Oh, please, just a few more zzzz's! "Honey, I'm gonna stay home today. I'm just too tired to put in another full day!" And my Knight in Shining Armor says - "Tomorrow's Saturday, you can catch a few then." No sympathy there! How dare he snuggle back under the covers while I drag myself out, trying to change my attitude to one of joy, being glad the day has begun.
As I drag my feet scuffing the carpet, step by step, I get to the closet, grab my daily "try to make me beautiful regiment" and take the two additional steps into the bathroom. There it is - that thing, that - that - MIRROR! As I look, or try not to look, into IT , I groan, almost outloud, "Good grief, who are you??? You didn't look that way when you went to bed!" What is it with this routine anyway? Who says I have to shower every morning, wash my hair, shave my legs, put on deoderant - well, you all know the routine. My goodness, how many years have I been doing this? Don't ask! And for what? Truth of the matter - I do it for me, cause otherwise I couldn't stand to be around myself, let alone expose myself to another human. But, in the process of the daily splish-splash of water to the final dip of the brush for blush on the cheeks, I do it to unto the Father. It's my way of taking care of myself, greeting Him with anticipation of what each day will hold.
Spending special time each morning in that same little four foot by ten foot bathroom, preparing for the day to reading His Word, writing notes, and meditating on what He's speaking to me has become one of my favorite times during the day. He's my breakfast, my first feeding of the day. He's the power that gets me through minute by minute. How blessed I am to have such bountiful nourishment.
So, as I pass the mirror on the wall, leaving that little room, I can say "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all and reply most assuredly, "MY LORD and Savior is".
Proverbs 31:30 Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn't last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised.
