Spiritual Quickies

Our lives seems to be getting more complicated with the passing of every day. The pressure to perform better, work longer hours and our work loads are increasing at the speed of sound. And that's only at work. At home, our jobs are infinite; they're new challenges as the seconds pass. Then we have our communities and activities, our obligations to our churches. When you add our responsibilities to the mix, we become overwhelmed. At times, I have to hide, just to find time to pray.

I'm not talking about jumping into my prayer closet and condensing three hours of communion into five minutes. A spiritual quickie lacks commitment, still leaving you empty and powerless. We all have those days when the needs of world wake us prior to the alarm sounding. Without thinking our feet hits the floor running, chasing after the troubles of the day and before we realize it, we've missed our alone time with the Lord. Essentially when we miss prayer time, we deny God's commands. Every word from His mouth is a command. Samuel knew it was a sin not to pray. (I Sa 12:23)

Moses knew the power of prayer, when he was on the mountain of God the Israelites sinned and made a golden calf. The Lord's anger burned against them and He threatened to destroy everyone in the camp. Moses quickly interceded for them and the Lord's anger subsided (Ex 32:9-14). On another occasion when the scouts came back from exploring the promise land, the Israelites started to grumble for being brought into the desert and were about to stone Moses when the Lord arrived in the cloud. He wanted to destroy everyone but Caleb, Joshua, Moses, and Aaron. Moses again interceded on their behalf and the Lords anger dissipated (Nu 14:11-14).Moses saved the lives of over 600,000 people on two separate occasions with intercessions.

There are so many examples of the power of prayer in the word. It heals the sick, makes the blind man see. We gain strength from connecting to our power Source. When we start the day in prayer it empowers us to move mountains. Then we can handle the boss who wants more and all the troubles of the day. I challenge you to increase your prayer time, intercede for the needs of the lost. Your healing is in praying for others, not simply asking them to pray for you. And spiritual quickies leave you lacking and unfulfilled.
