GHOST

Is it You that I imagine seeing out of the corner of my eye
Trying to turn and focus but nothing no matter how hard I try
Reading about You tells me that You are not really shy
Blaming myself for Your absence always making me cry

The nightmares that waken me are not You in my shadows
But still jerking me awake like emergency room paddles
My faith and even my being tossing and turning full of rattles
Jarring me to the bone as if riding horses with no saddles

You don’t hide in the shadows like stories portray most
Or lurk in the dark seeking a weakling for a host
You are perfect, lacking nothing but still You do not boast
You have been here from the beginning, You are the
HOLY GHOST
