Devotionals
So what’s so unlucky about Friday the 13th? Friday is a good day.
1. It’s the day our Lord was crucified.
2. It’s usually payday for most folks.
3. It signals the beginning of the weekend.
4. Fall Fridays in Texas mean high school football.
See, Friday’s are good.
So what’s with this thirteen thing? Let me see:
1. Thirteen is the number of Jesus and his disciples.
2. Jesus began to offer the kingdom to the Gentiles in Matthew 13.
3. Jesus holds a classroom lesson for his disciples regarding how to keep the momentum of the ministry going strong in John 13.
4. Paul’s first cyclical evangelistic journey is found in Acts 13.
5. If you list the books of the Bible alphabetically, the thirteenth one is 1 Corinthians. What’s so spectacular about that you ask? Chapter 13 is the love chapter. Interestingly, the last verse reads, “But now faith, hope, love abide these three, but the greatest of these is love.” That’s 1 Corinthians 13:13.
Thirteen’s not so bad, either.
Maybe the next time this date rolls around on the calendar, we should look at it as Love Friday.
