"A penny for your thoughts." I said,
To a man who wore a tie,
As he hustled, and he bustled,
And he struggled to get by,
"There is no time to talk," he said,
While clinging to his hat,
"I need to make more money,
And there is no time to chat."

"A penny for your thoughts." I said,
To a European King,
As he polished up the ruby,
On his seven carrot ring,
"I have no time to talk, he said,
For once this ring is clean,
I must hurry off to France,
To buy a trinket for the Queen."

"A penny for your thoughts." I said,
To a man who knelt in prayer,
He had wounds upon his hands and feet,
And thorns amidst his hair,
"I would love to share a thought." he said,
"But I will not take one cent."
He said, "Men would need no pennies,
If their days were better spent."
