"How beautiful are your tents. O Jacob, your dwelling places, O Israel." Deuteronomy 24:5

I cleaned house today. I mean I really cleaned house. I got every nook and cranny every corner and crevice. Anywhere there was dirt or dust got swept, vacuumed, and dusted. Everyone being home in the summer had really taken its toll on my house and I had let lots of things go. I could not stand it anymore. After I finished I took a break and went to my front porch to rest and have a snack. I was so excited about my clean house I could hardly wait to go back inside and just look at it. Dwelling in my home was going to be much more pleasant now that the dirt and clutter had been cleared away.

As I thought about this I began to think about Jesus. I began to think of my life as His dwelling place, which it is, and how much happier and at home He must feel when my life is clean from sin and worldly ways. When I ask for forgiveness for all the wrong I have done my life is clean and a much more pleasant place for Jesus to dwell. But when I get lazy and unconcerned about the things I do and say my life gets cluttered and dirty. When this happens there is little room for Jesus and it makes for a nasty place for Him to try to dwell. How much He must hate it when my life gets that way. How delighted it must make Him when I clean my life up by repenting and asking for forgiveness.

Got a dirty heart today? Why not clean every nook and cranny, corner and crevice by asking God to reveal to you the sins you have committed. Then one by one ask the Lord to forgive you and clean you up. He will and when He does He will be more at home in you and you will be happier with yourself.

Dear Lord thank you for speaking to me through the smallest of tasks such as cleaning my house. You are truly an amazing God. I love you. Amen.
