Rivers of Mercy

Rushed to me today, in a very special way, was the rivers of God’s mercy.
because of it beneath me, I wasn’t swept away; amidst the controversy.

Its presence so surprised me, every time it came; sending me a quiver,
reaching through my mess, His love upheld me, o, Lord, my sovereign forgiver.

I often should remember and always to consider,
the places that it found me beneath the mighty river,

upon the mass of thousands, still making compromises;
the good Shepherds voice alarmed me, despite, all of my demises.

So like a guilty freedman; unmerited – I stand,
And asking to be received; forever – I brand,
consuming all I can; though I never wouldst deserve.
surrendering now my heart, may I only seek to serve.

Knowing He doth unmask me, by His all too seeing eye,
and could only yet still cloth me; I seek now to edify.
