Though Your Sins

Come now, and let us reason together," saith the LORD.
Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18

It was a muddy day when three of my grandchildren came to play. After a period of time in the wide out of doors they gleefully bounded in the door.

As I looked at the trio there was mud from head to toe. Often I am excited about all their fun and creativity that despair over mud eludes me. This particular day I wasn’t in the mood for mud.

However, after taking off jackets, scarves, hats, mittens, snow pants and boots, I hauled carefully each piece of clothing to the kitchen sink. I rinsed everything off as best I could and whisked them to the washer.

I then carried the muddy boots to the sink and sprayed them down. About this time my son-in-law, Rod, phoned to check on the children.

I said to Rod, “At the moment I’m digging tiny bits of stone out of the garbage disposal from their muddy episode.” “And,” I continued, “I am meditating on the amazing love of the Father. I wonder if he sighs within when he has yet another day of muddy messes and tiny stones to clean up in my life.”

My son-in-law responded with, “So you’re being Jesus today?”

Humm, I hadn’t thought of it that way. I had simply pondered my own stain, sin and mud that so often needs cleaned up. I liked his new more encouraging thought of being Jesus to my muddy little cherubs. And even more than I was able to clean up the gooey, sticky mud mess from their clothes the Heavenly Father can wash my sins whiter than snow.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the privilege of being Jesus to my grandchildren. You enable me to extend love, care and forgiveness to them. Amen.

When a mothering task feels overwhelming realize you are being Jesus to your little ones. You are extending His love right into their hearts.
