Burning within me it can make me cry
relentless, relentless maybe even die.

Burning my muscle, my tissue, my soul
working to create yet another hole.

Burning so bright it can break my heart
forever and ever tear my world apart.

The dying embers can lock me in
make me a cripple, never to win.

The flame has stolen my work and my days
and filled my nights with a painful haze.

The burning has come and the burning has gone
but the path of destruction goes on and on.

So many tears and fears and dread
when I close my eyes I can only see red.

Oh God, forgive me and help me to see
I have it, it doesn't have me.
