As they watched Him being brutally beaten, and listened to His cries of pain when the nails were driven into His hands and feet, the tears were simply insufficient to express the depth of their loss. His mother, His Disciples, and loyal followers, knew that this was the Son of God. As He committed His Spirit unto His Father, and as He was taken away to the tomb where He would lay, those that followed Him went about their lives in emptiness and disbelief, that their Savior was now gone. And in the blink of an eye, this miraculous blessing who they called, Jesus, had come to an end.
It was in their humanness, that grief overcame them and kept them from holding on to the words of their precious Lord and Savior. Their fleshly nature kept them from having faith in the Scriptures, that He would be raised from the dead. They did not rejoice as they could have, but mourned because they were not looking through the eyes of God, by fully trusting and believing in His Word.
Only God can create beautiful beginnings from what we view as endings. God has shown us His power of Resurrecting. With God, ALL things are possible. God can take every broken heart, every severed relationship, every shattered marriage, and every sickened body, and not only make them new again, but make them better than before. In the eyes of God, every setback is an opportunity for a comeback, every victim is transformed into a Victor, and the conquered become Conquerors. There is nothing that is not redeemable through Christ, by the Great Redeemer.
Have you too looked upon the cross, and walked away outwardly expressing your faith, yet still filled with doubt and despair? Do you find it hard to believe that the Promises of God are for you and your circumstances, specifically? The cross does represent an end, an end to the price we must pay for sin. This ending gave us the beginning of New Life in Christ, one that is victorious. We are offered a New Life that brings Peace, not as the world gives, but as He gives, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Let this Promise of New Life resonate throughout your daily life. Know that in the midst of your pain, God already has a plan to bring joy from the very tears that you cry. Know that the emptiness you feel has already been filled to the full by God, who is Himself, love. Know that whatever you perceive as an end, can be the beginning of something wonderful, in the eyes of God.
“What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons.
They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone.
A new life has begun!
All this newness of life is from God,
who brought us back to himself through what Christ did.”
2 Corinthians 5: 17-18 (NLT)
