Encouragement
He closed the book
A word for you from the Lord, a word that will enable you to pick up the pieces and make something that will Glorify God.
It’s found in Luke 4: 18-21 please read the whole passage after you have read my dribblings as the Lord will cement this truth in your hearts.
I love this scripture which shows the very nature of God for it was the Father who anointed the Son to preach the good news, to heal the broken hearted. It was the Father who enabled him to bring deliverance to the captive and recovery of sight to the blind, to bring liberty to them that were bruised. It was the anointing of the Holy Spirit that enabled Christ to do great miracles, but the verse I believe is for you is verse 20.
'He closed the book and sat down'
Listen to what the Lord was prompting me to share with you... when Christ closed the book he was saying, 'the law is finished, the schoolmaster cane was broken and grace has come, He was saying in effect; the old is done away, the veil has been lifted, the glory of God was no longer in a man made tabernacle or synagogue, it was in Christ.
He closed the book on the law of sin and death for those who would believe on his name, he shut its pages tightly, gave it to the minister of the synagogue and in doing so heralded in Gods amazing grace.
Oh rejoice, the book is closed on your past sins, its firmly shut so that no more sin is recorded against you because the blood of Jesus Christ Gods Son cleanses you from all sin.
The closed book means that sin has no dominion over you, that you no longer serve sin you serve Christ the redeemer, the sin destroyer, the sin carrier who took it away and nailed every accusation that was against you to his cross....
He sat down, no need to stand, no need to loom head and shoulders over anyone, no need to prove anything, he made himself of no reputation, took upon himself the form of a servant, and sat down.
If you are bothered by sin past present and future remember Christ isn’t, remember that he took it all upon himself and bore the wrath of God. Sin does offend God for sure it does, but our unwillingness to repent and receive his forgiveness and accept that it’s a done deal offends him even more
Its time to close the book you keep opening seeking for the sin thats so easily besets you, your past sin, your present sin and your future sin is not to be found for there is an ocean of grace and a fountain of redeeming blood covering it all.
King David sinned before God in that he committed adultery, involved himself in murder and lying but when he was exposed he quickly repented, got up washed, anointed himself, changed from rags and worshipped God as though nothing had happened, why? because he trusted in Gods mercy.
How much more should we trust the one who died to forgive us from ‘eternity past to Calvary's cross and eternity future’
Leave yesterdays sin in the sea of Gods forgiveness for he is not interested in it, he has closed the book, signed the papers and released you from prison and you are free....
Now there’s something to put a smile on your face today
