If you desire to live a balanced, fulfilled life, avoid the following 7 self destructive habits.
Number 1 -- Thinking, Saying, and Doing Negative Things.
Self destructive people are negative people. They complain about a lot of things. They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain and the wind for ruining their travel. They blame those around them for what's been happening.
Negative people exaggerate every little bit of difficulty or problem. They regard failures as final and never seem to move forward. They become discouraged too easily instead of learning from their mistakes.
Number 2 -- Acting Before Thinking
Acting based on impulse or instinct is always dangerous.
People with this self-destructive habit spend and spend again without any second thought. They don't think about the future. They're only after the "momentary pleasure" of things and don't think about the consequences.
Thos who engage in unsafe, premarital, or extramarital sex, criminal activities and the like possess this self destructive habit.
Number 3 -- Talking Much More Than Listening
Self destructive people have the disease of always wanting to be the star of the show. So when they converse, they see to it that they emerge heroes in their stories. They would lie in order to put up a good image before others.
When other people express themselves, they close their ears. They're too arrogant to accept the opinion or advice of others.
In their mind, they're always correct. They reject suggestions or being told they committed mistakes because that would make them feel inferior.
Number 4 -- Discouraged Too Easily
To call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure is self destructive.
Successful people treat failures differently. They regard them as merely stepping stones to success.
Self destructive people may be excited to start a new venture. But then they also lose interest and momentum fairly quickly. They don;t have the persistence to go on and fulfill their goals.
Number 5 -- Envious of Success of Others
Another self destructive habit is envy.
Incompetent people envy other successful individuals. Instead of improving to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors. They'd try every trick to bring the success of another person down.
They could have rejoiced and learned from the successful ones. But no, they're too proud. They don't want to ask help or advice. They're too negative to accomplish anything.
Number 6 -- Wasting Time
Lots of people today spent countless hours getting drunk, eating, watching TV, playing games, or worse, staring at the balnk wall the whole day! They make no effort or have desire to improve their lives.
It's perfectly fine to take time to relax. But time should be managed efficiently in order to reach your dreams. There needs to be a proper work/life/play balance.
Number 7 -- Taking The Easy Way Out
Which one would you choose, the easy way or the hard way?
Self destructive people would choose the easy way even though the hard way would offer much better, enduring rewards at the end.
They don't want to suffer. They don't want to sacrifice the pleasures of the moment. They want the good life now!
If only they'd sacrifice a little for what matters, they would be much better off.
