The 8th Sense

I: 7 Senses

7 senses given by the being of 7.
For 7 days the children ate bread with no leaven,
for 7 days did God use to let live
all that does, and on the 7th was relaxation to give
rest for the work. Life for eternity:
the reward for certain souls who avoid the iniquities
of the 7 deadly sins.
When the 7th trumpet sounds, we shall glow from within.

II: Sight

The power of sight beyond sight:
to see ghosts of the dead walk in light
from their own luminous bodies.
Though our sight may be illusory
at times, and more perceptive at others,
objects, at a glance, are held under deep cover
of the day. Only inside the darkest night
do we ever see the true power of the light.
An extensive cognition,
some call it ESP, is really spiritual recognition.

III: Hearing

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God. A rearing
deep rooted in hearing no evil;
not following after the Devil's
temptations, even how pleasing they may
be. Hear the truth whispering in the wind. Hear it say
what was said before your hearing as a sage,
what will be said beyond your old age.
Some say you gain faith when you hear,
but doesn't faith mean that you fear
that your evidence is not in route?
Nay, that sound is called doubt.

IV: Smell

I smelt the burning fat of cattle
before I went on crusades, holy battles.
I smelt the decaying corpses of
demons, angels void of their first love.
I smelt the metal in the scabbard
before I smelt it cutting the air as a sword.
I could sense the spirits, feel their presence,
I smelt their fleeting essence.
I smelt the wind blowing the trees.
The flowery smell brought me to my knees.
I smelt the fragrance of a cutlass.
No! it was all just a dream, alas!

V: Taste

The chemicals inside my taste buds
violently rejected the Devil's blood.
They rejected his bitter words,
I shall not foolishly cross swords
for the Prince of Darkness. A sour
taste did I receive from Man, full of power
for self and no one else. My own body
produced a taste much too salty.
It preserved my flavor, but sour was my
taste, because I am just a Man. On high
I sought for a taste to calm the ragging beast.
The Son of God gave me that sapid, sweet,
flavorful taste. I can hardly wait
to eat some more. I loath, I hate
the insipid tastes mentioned beforehand.
Now, I only hunger for the Milk and Honey Land.

VI: Touch

I felt the pressure of the world, not
on my shoulders, but in those men who got
to carry it. And no man carries it,
so I feel nothing. Nothing compared to the hit
that was placed on our Lord.
The pain on flesh no mere mortal could afford
to endure. Down from a Heavenly throne,
the Son of man came unto His own,
only to receive a cold shoulder. A cruel gesture
to the one, for our sins, must fester
upon a Roman tree. From then on
the heat from our worry has been gone.
We have felt nothing until we felt His shoes,
and that is impossible... which is good news.

VII: Balance

The balance of the world, the cosmic
vestibular system held by the charismatic
justice. And I balance myself on the balance
for as long as the allowance
is being paid. Keep my head high,
any given day I may die.
Balance on a tightrope hung around
my neck. Balance the distance between the bloodhounds
and myself. Balance the intervals between breaths.
Balance my life with my death.

VIII: Kinesthesis

A sense of my position along the walk
of life. My muscles form, I begin to talk.
Speaking a gospel I never fantasized.
When I moved my legs, I realized
that I was heading in the correct direction.
With heightened kinesthesis, I found the position
of my body being closer to my home.
I jog through the thickets, hurtling over branches... Lord, here I come!
