Family
A song by Ray Charles, “Georgia on My Mind” was played as part of the funeral service for my grandmother in law, Georgia.
As Ray Charles sang, a small group of clouds parted and the sun shined down, warming our faces.
Throughout the song, people exchanged smiles and knowing glances about who had decided to join us.
To further drive home this thought, no sooner had the song ended then the clouds came together and the sun departed, as if Georgia had taken her leave. More smiles and comments followed this change in the weather
But that's not all...
The service ended a few minutes later. Once everyone was in their car, the sky opened up with a downpour as if Georgia and Company's divine touch had held up Mother Nature for just a few, valuable, moments.
While Georgia was certainly on our minds, we were on hers as well.
