We are partakers of the nature divine;
Through His promises we have His life;
Just as He turned the water to wine,
The best of Him comes through all our strife;
Yet we often see ourselves as paupers,
And bring ourselves down with sinful self-pity;
We fail to seek from heaven’s coffers,
There’s much for us from God’s great city;
We’re often beset as trials abound,
As if our current state ever really matters;
We’ve lost sight, by the Shepherd, we’re found,
And have become complaining mad hatters;
Here is truth from the One who receives us,
Even in the midst of the severest of times:
“All of God is ours in the Lord Jesus!”,
We’re seated with Him in heavenly climes;
Here I am fraught with supernatural conviction,
I had forgotten from whence comes my breath;
While reading the Truth I treated like fiction,
Committing a crime most worthy of death;
Yet I know He gives so much more grace,
He has forgiven all that I’ve confessed;
And overrules all my foolish mistakes;
I can expect to find my good rest;
So bask in the goodness that is from our Lord,
And hold out your hand to receive from Him;
He desires to bless those He’s adored,
Washing them free from all o’ their sin;
And what will be the end of this short life;
A dash to be found between two dates?
Good from evil; glory borne of strife;
Christ revealed beyond earthly straits;
This is the command made by our King,
As true as the grace that falls upon us;
The thing that will provoke us to sing,
Having realized we are children of Promise.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”—Romans 5:1-5
”And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”—2 Corinthians 9:8
“by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”—2 Peter 1:4
