And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, 'Alas, my master! how shall we do?' And he answered 'Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they be with them.' And Elisha prayed, and said, ''Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.' And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha." II Kings 6:16-17
The servant of the man of God was afraid, because he was focused on what he could see in the natural...He saw an army, horses and chariots, and he panicked. But he did not understand that there is a spiritual realm, and there are things happening there that we cannot see with the natural eye. That is why the Word tells us to walk by faith and not by sight. Lose your focus.
Elisha prayed for the Lord to open the eyes of the servant to see that which is not visible with the natural eye...And the servant then saw the horses, chariots and fire...They had more protection in the invisible realm than that which was coming after them in the physical realm. What you see is not always what you have! Lose your focus.
The message today is simply this:
Take your eyes off of your problem, your enemies, your storm, your mountain and your giant.
Lose your focus.
We tend to focus on those things that we see as stumbling blocks, hinderances, and attacks.
We need to lose our focus.
We need to focus on what God says:
God says He is our healer, deliverer, our strength, our protector, our guide, our peace, our provider. Focus on what God says and lose your focus.
What happens when we focus on the natural and on the world instead of the Lord?
Well, in Matthew 14:30, we see that Peter was walking on water!!! Can you imagine that? Anyway, he was walking on the water, and decided to stop focusing on Jesus, and focus on the boisterous storm instead...What did that accomplish? It caused Peter to lose his faith and begin to sink.
Whatever you are focused on today that does not line up with the Word of God, lose that focus.
Focus on who God is, and what He has promised you in His Word. Focus on His goodness and faithfulness, and the fact that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or imagine. Focus on the fact that "...all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
So whatever and whoever you have been focusing on today, that is not helping you move foward, but keeping you back, keeping you bound, keeping you in bondage, "Cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of of God, and bringing into captivety every thought to the obedience of Christ:" II Corinthians 10:5
Make your focus and your thoughts line up with the Word!!
If you focus on the wrong thing, you will do the wrong thing.
Your focus can make you lose your purpose!
But if you focus on God and His Word, then you will fulfill the purpose God has for you!
What if Noah had focused on the fact that he had never seen rain before, and how great the commitment was for him to build an ark?
What if Moses would have focused on the red sea, instead of what God said He would do?
What if Abraham would have focused on how long he and Sarah had waited for a child, and how old they had become?
What if David had focused on the size and reputation of Goliath?
What if Joshua would have focused on the wall of Jericho instead of what God said?
What if Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego would have focused on the heat from the furnace instead of their faith in God?
What if Daniel would have focused on the Lions, instead of his faith in God and prayer?
What if Jesus would have focused on his enemies, the lies, the persecution, the beating, the prison, the pain, the humiliation, the betrayal, and the cross.... instead of focusing on you?
The Lord says....Trust in Me with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. I will keep you in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Me.
