You led them out of Egypt
parted the great sea
with cloud by day and fire by night
you set those captives free.

You brought them through in safety
covered by your hand
The rock broke forth with water
as manna struck the land.

They sang to you a new song
your eye was staid on them.
They worshipped in the desert
had faith, but fell again.

Why your love was so abundant
your mercy great and free
I thought I'd never get it
Those fickle folk were not
like me!

But you began to show me
I was indeed like them
Driven by my self desires
scarlet in my sin.

'Twas then I met my savior
You in human form
Through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
I found that curtain torn!

You led me out of Egypt
The land that I was in
you bought me for the highest price
You suffered for my sin.

You are my Jehovah - Jireh
provider of my needs
I too have faith and fall again
But you set this captive free.

I too can sing a new song
I too can lift my hands
and worship in the desert
Heading out for promised land!
