The Ocean Within

Deep sounds within my soul
Silent roaring evading control
Restless stirring, dangerous undertow
Searching for shore, no where to go
Pounding, gushing with power
Still never, not even one hour
The roar precludes whispers of peace
The tide is rising, desiring release
The noise overwhelming
Drowning so very compelling

But without is a different as can be
Strong and capable is what others see
Peaceful and wise
Oh what an amazing disguise
Fun loving, happy and gay
As though I cast all worries away
Only those close see the roaring inside of me
The turmoil in my eyes disguised as mystery

The tide grows stronger and stronger within
Someday I am afraid it will win
It will swallow me up in its vast fray
I will simply disappear and be gone one day

Many streams gushing forth
Many sources converging on one course
They meet together causing such a gush
I grab hold lest I am lost in the rush
Is there hope this battle to win
A way to tame the ocean within
