Bible Study on A Regenerated Mind on the subject: If Ye Be Willing!
by Alfreda Byars
Willing: Is to be zealous, energetic, prompt, reliable, active, obedient, enthusiastic, responsible, agreeable, ready, ready to comply, prepared, voluntary, in accord with. Willing is to be docile, and when you are docile, you are meek, mild, compliant, obedient, submissive, accommodating, pliable, yielding, tame, teachable, easily influence, easy going, soft, childlike, gentle, unresisting, humble, a temperament that submits easily to control or that fails to resist domination.
When you are willing, it allows you to yield meekly to another's request or demand, and to be willing is also to be obedient, which is a giving in to the orders or instructions of one in authority or control, (as an obedient child). To be willing is to be controllable, compliant, adaptable, flexible, dutiful, limber, supple, elastic, bending, bendable, workable, persuadable, and adaptable like putty.
Being willing is also being pliable, which implies a capability of being easily bent, suggesting the suppleness of a wooden switch and, a yielding nature. Being willing is also being like plastic such as plaster or clay that can be molded into various forms, which are retained upon hardening. Being willing is also associated with being malleable, which is used of that which can be hammered, beaten, or pressed into various forms and figuratively suggests a readiness to be trained, changed and molded.
Scripture readings on being willing:
Isaiah 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
II Corinthians 8:3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
II Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
I Thessalonians 2:8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
I Timothy 6:18 - 19 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Hebrews 13:18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
God Bless You.
