Marriage

While I was out on my walk today, I listened to the birds sing ; some were just cawing - have they no song? and others a pretty melody sang.

After a while I could hear a pattern, one bird was answering the song of another and if you listened you could almost believe they were practicing for a recital.

First the small bird (because the song notes were light and airy) would sing a little verse and then the cawing voice would chime in, making a raucous chorus.

The small bird then took the same notes and times that the chorus had just rung out and turned it into an improvised melody, making lovely what had just been a shout.

This point-counterpoint went on as I went by, growing louder then fading away making a very gray day seem to shine in its own particular way.

It mattered not to them, they just wanted to sing, sending each note up to God
singing their thanks and pure joy in living to the one who had given them that gift.

It made me think of how my life shines, with Jesus composing music in my heart for it is only thru Him that the beauty became visible in a world that had seemed so dark.

He wiped away all the sadness, replacing it with notes of joy, ones that I can't help but sing the melody ringing out so clear, songs of thanksgiving for everything.

And the wonder of it all, is that my song is not a solo, no, God had much more in His plans, for He in His wisdom had picked the perfect one to complete my life and set me free.

When I met you, the melody suddenly made sense, the harmony was now in place, and now each day we sing our duet of love, watching each note fly up to the throne of grace.

There is never an end to the song that we sing, for each day it begins anew and I know it will sing of our love and our joy, and my wonder that I belong to you.

I thank God for the beauty of the music in my heart, for it can be understood without words, each note contains a little piece of my heart, and the song belongs to you.
