Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful
that the grass is getting watered for free. I can grumble about my health
or I can rejoice that I'm still alive. The choice is mine -- yours, too.

I look back with fond memories to pastors I had as a young person.
They were what I have always felt were truly Godly men who had a
keen sense of Christian conscience. They personified what I read in
Joshua 5:14 (nlt), "...Joshua fell with his face to the ground in rever-
ence. 'I am at your command, Joshua said. 'What do you want your
servant to do?'" Perhaps it's time for us to do the same.

There was a Godly aura about them that I don't seem to see as much of
today, sorry to say. I would hope that today's church leaders are more
concerned about Godliness than retirement programs and 401K's, but
materialism has affected the whole race including Christians along with
some of their leaders. In general, I just don't see this passionate feeling
for being concerned about pleasing God. Have any of you noticed that?

There is an old song in the Brethren hymnal, the first verse of which
says, "More holiness give me, more strivings within; more patience in
suffering, more sorrow for sin; more faith in my Savior, more sense of
his care; more joy in His service, more purpose in prayer." I need to get
back to that sense of holiness -- like Joshua had. How about you?
