Marriage
I remember growing up how I would escape into books when life became
just too hard for me, for in the stories I read I was transported to other
lands where I was always free.
I could accompany Hans Brinker with his silver ice skates, or run into the Jungle Book to learn about Mowgli's fate.
Or I could become Alice in her wonderland full of things yet unknown, or
go with her through the looking glass to see all the odd things that she was
shown.
Hours I spent traveling the globe, lost in my world of words, for while I was there I was safe from harm, I was confident and self-assured.
It was always a wrench to have to put the book down, come back to reality, and realize that I was no heroine, I was the same sad little me.
By the time I was grown I had built my walls tall, I hid behind them so no one
could see, that behind that 'coping pretty well' exterior, there was such a hole in
me.
I could not fill it, no matter how I tried, nothing seeded to fit, and I reached the point when I gave up trying, sure that I would never find 'it'.
That was exactly the moment when Jesus came into my life, and said 'that hole in your heart is for Me - and if you will, I will be with you always, for only I can set you free.'
What a difference there was from that moment on, Jesus took down the walls that took so long to build, and in their place He put His mercy and love, and with peace I was at last filled.
That was only the start of the journey God planned; He prepared me for what He would have me do, and even though I didn't know at the time where I was headed, God was leading me to my dream come true.
He healed my heart, and gave me back trust and faith, and told me 'with Me there is nothing you can't do' and after times of testing and trying, God gave me the gift of love when I met you.
Now the books are forgotten, the stories I don't need to take me far away from me, for now I live the most wonderful of adventures, following Jesus with you right next to me!
