I think I’m gonna do
Something new.


People put perfection
On a pedestal


Like it contains
The key to life


But I’m beginning
To see the beauty
In the flaws.


No longer feelin’
The need to
Apologize
For me “insufficiencies”


I like the fact
That my little eyes
Can’t see everything


And my little brain
Cannot grasp the
Entire world.
I like the fact
That I can
Rest
Within a larger sphere
Than the simple one
I’ve created for myself


I like the idea
That calculations
And plans and
Constructed boundaries
Are not the end
Of the story


That the sum total of
My life
Is not contained in
This beautiful, elementary
Imagination of
Mine


Although there is a
Flicker
Of comfort
In the safe bubble
Of my comprehension


It just isn’t enough


Here’s a confession:
I guess my interest
In life
Is a selfish one


God doesn’t need me,
I need Him
And I know that I want Him
I sound so righteous, huh…


But listen,

Everything I naturally
Move toward
Seems to have
At least the illusion
Of my benefit


When I can’t see that
I get scared
And I retaliate


What could possible be
Good
About something bad?
If it aint gone make
Me happy,
Man!
Get me away from it!


It is for this simple
Reason I
Shout for sheer
Joy!


It is at this point
When God’s inscrutable
Ability
Brings tears to my eyes


It is right here
Where
My imperfection
Leaves a lasting
After taste of sweetness


Because God
Comes in
And fills me up like
Water covers each
Necessary hole of a sponge


His grace, His mercy,
His unending love
Completely blows my mind


Absolutely brings me to life


Now I can rejoice
In my shortcomings
And my inabilities.
I do not look at them
Hatefully.


I know God is
Able
At all times
And in every one.


I know with Him
There are no boundaries
And no hold-backs.


I know with Him
Everything I need
I have.


I know that everything
Changes with Him.


I know that I am utterly free in
Him.

I know that I don’t
Need to see the
Possibility of selfish benefit


All I have to see is HIM
