Beloved

You will not find her in her shame
Do not even speak her name
Perhaps her face was never there
Clear and bright beneath her hair
Of pallid hue though sullied black
Nothing now could bring her back
So shall she sleep upon the shore
The seas to wash her evermore
A lovelier sound than she could make
As the breakers break and break
Let the salt burn her skin
Drown the voice she cried within
Let the tide with all it�s might
Take all she is into the night
To wash her to a grain of sand
That trickles through a careless hand
Do not touch her place of blame
Do not find her in her shame
So shall she sleep for evermore
The seas to wash her on the shore

Centuries past I knew your name
I took upon myself the blame
Your face to me was ever dear
I knew the sorrow and the fear
And that you would for nothing lack
I took the stripes upon my back
I see you lie upon the shore
I stand upon the oceans roar
And bid the storm at last to cease
And cast the mantle of my peace
Around the child whose wretched form
I gather from the deadly storm
None shall steal you in the night
For night is day within my Light
Upon a cross I bore your shame
And chose for you a special name
Beloved, come to me and stand
I hold you with a careful hand
Beloved, see you are my daughter
We stand together on the water.
